FAUSTO, NO TEATRO NACIONAL DE SÃO CARLOS
O Teatro Nacional de São Carlos apresenta:
FAUST, de Charles Gounod
8. 12. 14. 16 Janeiro às 20h00
10. e 18. Janeiro às 16h00
Estreia na quinta-feira, 8 de Janeiro, às 21h00, a ópera FAUST de Charles-François Gounod, com encenação de Christof Loy, direcção musical de Enrico Delamboye, produção da Oper Frankfurt e participação da Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa e do Coro do TNSC.
Com récitas nos dias 12, 14 e 16 de Janeiro às 20h00 e dias 10 e 18 de Janeiro às 16h00, FAUST é uma ópera em cinco actos com libreto de Jules Barbier (1825-1901) e de Michel Carré (1821-1872) baseado na obra Faust de Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832)
A força do amor contido em Faust comoveu Dickens que escreveu “Afectou-me e ficou nos meus ouvidos como o eco do que existe no meu próprio coração”.
Estreada a 19 de Março de 1959 no Théâtre-Lyrique em Paris, Faust consagrou Gounod como um grande compositor e rapidamente a sua popularidade se estendeu a todo o mundo. Foi aliás a obra escolhida para inaugurar a Metropolitan Opera de Nova Iorque em 1883.
Uma partitura rica e expressiva transforma esta ópera numa tragédia romântica. A orquestração e os coros sublinham a luta entre o bem e o mal enquanto as melodias mais doces foram reservadas pelo compositor para os duetos entre as personagens Marguerite e Docteur Faust.
Andrej Dunaev interpreta a personagem Docteur Faust, o americano Kevin Short é Méphistophélès, Patricia Bicciré é Marguerite enquanto Klaus Kuttler é Valentim e Kristina Wahlin é Siébel. Os portugueses Diogo Oliveira e Maria Luísa de Freitas encarnam Wagner e Marthe respectivamente. Participam ainda nesta produção ambos os corpos artísticos do Teatro Nacional de São Carlos: o Coro e a Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa.
BREVES PALAVRAS
Recomeça também no São Carlos o projecto “Breves Palavras” a decorrer todos os dias de récita trinta minutos antes de cada espectáculo, no Salão Nobre do Teatro. Sérgio Azevedo (biografia em anexo) é o jovem compositor escolhido para partilhar com o público uma perspectiva pessoal sobre a obra de Gounod, Faust.

SINOPSES
1º Acto
Pensando em suicidar-se, Faust invoca o diabo. Méphistophélès responde, prometendo-lhe riqueza, poder e juventude em troca da sua alma. Depois de Méphistophélès fazer aparecer uma imagem de Marguerite, Faust aceita o pacto.
2º Acto
Valentim pede aos amigos que protejam Marguerite enquanto ele estiver na guerra. Méphistophélès provoca Marguerite e Valentim puxa da espada, mas Méphistophélès tira-lha. Faust dá o braço a Marguerite mas ela desvia-se.
3º Acto
Enquanto Faust sonha com o amor, Méphistophélès dá a Marguerite uma caixa de jóias. Ela fica encantada e Faust decide declarar o seu amor. Ela pede-lhe que parta, depois volta a chamá-lo.
4º Acto
Marguerite, agora a mãe abandonada do filho Faust, reza a Deus. Mas é Méphistophélès quem responde. Valentin regressa da guerra e corre a casa de Marguerite. Méphistophélès manda Faust segui-lo. Valentim tenta vingar a irmã mas Faust fere-o. Antes de morrer, Valentim amaldiçoa Marguerite.
5º Acto
Rodeado por bruxas a dançar, Faust tem uma visão: Marguerite é presa por matar o filho de ambos. Entra na cela dela e voltam os dois a sonhar com romance. Mas Marguerite recusa-se a ir com ele. Expira e a sua alma sobe aos céus.

Foi com muita emoção que ouvi esse maravilhoso cd enviado por um amigo querido de Portugal. Há muito não ouvia essas peças e fiquei maravilhado com a abordagem de Maria João, que lhe dá um outra dimensão, mais intimista, menos brilhante, falando diretamente ao coração. Na sonata nº 3, é emocionante perceber o trabalho contrapontístico de Chopin, que tanto amava a música de Bach. a pianista selecionou aqui algumas das últimas obras do compositor. Não perca!!
